Yes, it is a stubborn cold! We hope the class is now out of the woods on this reparatory thing. We were trying to figure it out yesterday. Why has Grade 3 been hit so hard; seven absent yesterday, and five today?! We have had more absent than any other grade. Is it stress? Siblings? Lack of sleep? Poor hand washing hygiene? Saturn in retrograde?
Well, we think we figured it out. Your children LOVE playing "double, double" with each other. Ask them to show it to you, and you will experience the same "ah-ha!" moment that we did! :)
Monday begins MAP testing. We highly recommend early bedtimes beginning today (Friday), lots of water (beginning today) and excellent high protein nutrition. Testing begins each morning promptly at 8am. We urge you to drop your children off early, so they have plenty of time to run around, get some oxygen, wake up and socialize with friends before taking the tests. Please see today's Pirate log for more details.
Next week is Stevenson's canned food drive. Please remember to send in cans for the needy. We hope to set records this year in gathering enormous amounts of food for all those who depend on the community for nutritional support.
Grandparents and Special Friends Day is Friday! Some of you have already let us know if your child does not have a grandparent or special friend attending the event. Thank you; we will communicate to your child that WE are his or her "special friend" for the day! Grade 3 students are encouraged to leave at the end of the event with his or her grandparent or special friend. Those children who are unable to leave at 11:30 are welcome to finish out the day in the classroom. We will be viewing a movie, cleaning up the room and getting ready for Thanksgiving break!
