What a blur the first half of the school year has been. We have enjoyed every moment spent with your children. Thank you for your continued support at home!
Highlights
Reading
We just finished reading the book Stone Fox. Ask your child about the themes from the story. Also be sure to check in with him/her about the ending... :(
Math
Wrapping up our "Addition and Subtraction" unit. We will begin multiplication instruction when we come back from break. We are curious, how did you all fare on "The Firehouse Problem?"
History
In our study of Colonial America, the students have been asked a couple of times to "make decisions" about what they would bring with them on a trip across the Atlantic Ocean, as well as what to use their energy on when arriving in North America. Ask your child about the "Energy Points" game, and what he/she spent energy on.
Tech
We enjoyed the "Hour of Code" so much last week that we did another hour this week. It is a very valuable skill for this generation of students. Also, we have added the "secret codes" for Keyboarding Without Tears (KWT) in the children's homework folders.
Whether you are traveling or staying home, we wish you the happiest of holidays. May peace bring you into the new year.
With love and gratitude,
John and Nina
